Guardians of cats and dogs outside of these cities can check with the resources listed at the bottom of this page.
Did you know that in 6 years, one female dog and her offspring can be the source of 67,000 puppies! Or that in 7 years, one female cat and her young can produce 420,000 kittens!
Companion animal overpopulation is a serious problem in most areas of the United States. Millions of animals are euthanized each year because there are not enough homes for all of the animals born each year. SVACA strongly urges animal guardians to spay or neuter their companion animals.
Spaying or neutering has many benefits such as: prevents the addition of more animals to the overpopulation problem, increases the likelihood that a companion animal will live a long and healthy life, and reduces the chance of unwanted behaviors, i.e. spraying in cats and roaming in dogs.
